India Medal 1895-1902, QVR, two clasps, Punjab Frontier 1897-98, Tirah 1897-98, awarded to Sowar Ahmad Shah of the 9th Bengal Lancers (Hodson’s Horse), (2176 Sowar Ahmad Shah . 9th Bl. Lcrs:), named in running script, suspender slack otherwise toned and lightly polished

Sowar Ahmad Shah was later commissioned in 1914. The 1915 Indian Army List shows Shah entered service on 20/11/1893 and commissioned Jemadar on 31/8/1914. War service is shown as Tirah Expeditionary Force, 1897-98, medal with clasps Punjab Frontier1897-98 & Tirah.
