James I (1603-25), Shilling, third coinage 1619-25, m.m. lis both sides, sixth crowned bust right wearing decorated armour, mark of value xii behind, legend surrounds .iacobvs. d.’ g.’ mag: bri: fra: et hi: rex. Rev, qvae devs conivnxit nemo separet, plumes over plain square topped quartered shield of arms (N.2125; S.2669). About very fine on a full flan, weakly struck in the portrait, reverse full and well detailed. A scarce type, with subtle toning.
