John (1199-1216), Penny, class Vc, Ipswich mint, moneyer Alisandre, facing bust with sceptre breaking inner linear circle, legend surrounds HENRICVS REX. Rev, voided short cross, crossed pellets in angles, reads +ALISANDRE ON G , 1.40g (S.1352; N 971).
Toned, a far more proficient example than one normally encounters, accompanied by a bold portrait and clear legends both sides, few weak spots or surface markings. Bold good very fine, the portrait better.
