A sole entitlement Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, EVIIR, awarded to Farrier Quarter Master Serjeant William Harvey, 35th Battery Royal Field Artillery; (71214 F.Q. M. Sjt. W. Harvey. R.F.A.), dark toned very fine.

William Harvey attested for the Royal Artillery on the 27th February 1889, giving his age as 19 years and his occupation as Labourer. He served Home 27th February 1889 to 11th February 1890, India 12th February 1890 to 9th March 1904, Home 10th March 1904 to the 8th November 1911. He served for 22 years 255 days, his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal is his sole entitlement being promulgated in Army Order 254/1910 with a gratuity of £5.

He was appointed Shoeing Smith 16th February 1894, Corporal Shoeing Smith, 1st April 1898, Farrier Sergeant 20th January 1900, Farrier Staff Sergeant 3rd March 1909, and Farrier Quarter Master Serjeant 1st December 1912.

He elected to serve more than 21 years and eventually served for 22 years 225 days Electing to draw redundancy on the 1st December 1912, Paid £28, being discharged with three months’ notice on the 8th November 1911, his intended place of residence being Mandalay, Upper Burma.
