Long Service & Good Conduct Medal, small reverse lettering, 1874-1901 awarded to Private John Carrier, 2nd/7th (Royal Fusiliers), (1663. Pte. J. Carrier. 2-7th Foot), very fine.
John Carrier was Born at All Saints, Northampton in 1837, he enlisted into the 6th Foot on the 2nd of November 1857 at Redding. He served Gibraltar, Ionian Islands, West India and East India. He rose to the rank of Sergeant until Discharged on the 2nd of November 1867, re-enlisting as a Private on the 18th of January 1868 into the 7th Battalion (Royal Fusiliers). His Long Service & Good Conduct Medal was issued on the 17th of October 1876 with a £5 gratuity. He was discharged on the 29th of April 1879 after 32 years 204 days with the Colours, his LS&GC is his only Medal.
