Naval General Service Medal 1909-62, GVR, Casualty Medal with the clasp, Persian Gulf 190-1914 awarded to Stoker 1st Class E.A. Austen, H.M.S. Alert, who was Discharged Dead on the 3rd October 1913, (309774. E.A. Austen, Sto. 1 Cl. H.M.S. Alert.) very fine

H.M.S. Alert was a Sloop of 960 Tons Displacement, armed with 6, 4in guns and 4 3-pdrs.

321 medals with the clasp Persian Gulf 1909-1914 were awarded to Alert, 20 men were Discharged Dead on roll but only 2 men Discharged Dead prior to WW1.
