Service Number “4” – Scots Guards Boer War Pair awarded to Private Alfred Butler Scots Guards comprising Queen’s South Africa Medal, 2nd type, very feint ghost dates, 5 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, Belfast, (4 Pte A. Butler. Scots GDS.), King’s South Africa Medal, two clasps South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902, (4 Pte A. Butler. Scots Guards.), both impressed naming, lightly toned very fine.

Albert Butler joined the Scots Guards on the 27th of February 1893 a 22 year old Puddler from Stafford. He served Home from the 27th of February 1893 to the 24th of February 1896, Illegible 25th February 1896 to the 17th of March 1900, South Africa 18th of March 1900 to the 12th of July 1902 and Home from the 13th of July 1902 to the 24th of February 1905. Being Discharged at the Termination of his Period of Engagement having served exactly 13 year with the Colours.

Sold with Copy Service Papers and Copy Medal Rolls confirming all the clasps.
