Richard II (1377-99), Gold Noble of six shillings and eight pence, Calais Mint, omitting French title in legend of crude style, armoured King standing in ship with upright sword and quartered shield, flag at stern of ship for Calais Mint, saltire over sail, reads RICARD DEI GRA REX ANGL DNS HIB Z AQ. Rev, mm cross pattee, R at centre of ornate cross with lis terminals, crown over lion in each angle, all within a tressure of eight arcs, fleurs in spandrels, reads IHC AVTEM TRANSIEN S PER MEDIV ILLORVM IBAT, 7.58g (S.1661; N.1306; Schneider 145-46).

Struck with somewhat rusty dies, lustrous toning with some die breaks. Well detailed on both sides, little scratching on reverse. Very fine, rare.
