Royal Fleet Reserve Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, GVIR, awarded to Able Seaman Walter Ernest Bland, Royal Fleet Reserve Who had Served as a Boy 1st Class during the Great War on H.M.S. Velox (J.90681 CC.H. 23072) W.E. Bland. A.B. R.F.R.), lightly toned fine.
Walter Ernest Bland was born on the 28th of March 1901 in Enfield Middlesex. He joined the Royal Navy in c.1918 stating that he was an Electric Galvaniser by trade. He Served as a Boy 1st Class on H.M.S. Velox. Velox, (D34), was a V-class destroyer built in 1918. She served in the last year of the First World War and was engaged in the Second Ostend Raid. He is entitled to a British War and Victory Medal.
He served until the 27th of March 1931. He joined the Royal Fleet Reserve on the 19th of March 1934 until he was released on the 6th of October 1945.
