Scotland, William II (1087-1100), Silver Forty Shillings, 1696, laureate and draped bust left, value below drapery, legend surrounding, rev struck en médaille, crowned quartered shield of arms, with an escutcheon of the Lion of Nassau, date at end of legend surrounding, edge inscribed in raised letters dated OCTAVO (SCBI 35:1740-1; S.5681).

Once cleaned, now lightly toned, a bold very fine.
