Sicily, Syracuse, Queen Philistis (wife of Hieron II).

Silver Tetradrachm, 275-215 BC.

Obverse: Veiled head of the Queen facing left, ear of corn behind.
Reverse:ΒΑΣΙΛΙΣΣΑΣ ΦΙΛΙΣΤΙΔOΣ, Nike driving fast quadriga right, crescent above, grain ear to right.

Extremely Fine. Some minor scratches. Exceptional iridescent toning.

Queen Philistis is a key example of a monarch known only from her coinage. The wife of Hieron II, tyrant of Syracuse, coins bearing her portrait were issued from c.275-215 BC and feature the queen wearing a veil.
