Description

Sicily, Syracuse, Second Democracy (c. 480-475 BC) Silver Tetradrachm, 17.31g. Obverse: Charioteer, wearing long chiton and holding kentron and reins, driving quadriga right, Nike above, crowning the horses. Reverse: ΣVRAKOΣION, head of Arethusa right, hair in a sakkos, four dolphins swimming around. (HGC 2, 1306; SNG ANS 131). Good Very Fine.
