South Africa Medal 1834-53 awarded to Private Patrick Brady, 43rd Regiment (Monmouthshire) Light Infantry who enlisted in 1835 aged only 13 years and 10 months old, South Africa Medal 1834-53, (Patr Brady, 43rd Regt), lightly toned very light edge bumps otherwise fine.

Patrick Brady, a labourer by trade born in St James, Dublin attested for the 43rd Regiment at Clonmel, County Tipperary on the 16th October 1835 at the age of 13 years and ten months old. He served for 21 years 34 days and was discharged at Horse Guards on the 29th August 1861. He served in North America, the Cape of Good Hope and the East Indies; he was awarded the South Africa Medal 1853 and the Indian Mutiny Medal.
