Thailand, Thai Kingdoms, Chiang Mai Tok money (17th-19th century), 16.76g (Mitch. 2802). Extremely Fine. Two stamps on the convex side.
Variously known as the ‘Oyster’ money or ‘Pig Mouth’ money, the Chiang Mai Tok was usually found with a blackened top while the underside was yellowish brown caused by the chemical reaction of the silver alloy supposedly by mixing with egg yolk or chicken blood during the casting process.
