Description

The British War Medal awarded to Able Seaman William Thomas Starling, 1st Benbow Battalion Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve who was Interned at Groningen in Holland on the 8th of October 1914 and who is entitled to 1914 Star comprising 1914-1920 British War Medal, (L7-2653 W. T. Starling. A.B. R.N.V.R.) very fine.

William Thomas Starling was born on the 22nd of June 1891, a native of Lewisham, he joined The Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve on the 18th of April 1912 being issued the number London 7/2653, he was a Bank Clerk by trade. He Joined Bonbon Battalion on the 23rd of October 1914 and whilst serving with the 1st Brigade Bonbon Battalion was Interned at Groningen in Holland on the 8th of October 1914. He was repatriated to the on the 12th of December 1918.
