Description

The British War Medal awarded to Private George Lang 6th Army Cyclists Corps, 14th Battalion Hampshire Regiment and 2nd Battalion Worcestershire Regiment, whilst serving with the Worcesters on the Somme in September 1918 he was wounded by a Gun Shot Wound to the Right Shoulder comprising 1914-1920 British War Medal, (3950 Pte. G. Lang, A. Cyc. Corps.) very fine

George Lang enlisted on the 1st of September 1914 stating that he was a Porter. His Service Papers state that whilst serving withe 2nd Battalion The Worcestershire Regiment he was wounded – GSW right shoulder and a compound fracture of the acromion which is the bit between spine and scapula, received 29th Sep 1918 on the Somme. War Diary 2nd Battalion The Worcesters for the week The 29th of September is a big attack on the Somme met by Very Heavy Machine Gun Fire. “8 Officers Killed 3 Wounded “About 220 Other Ranks killed or wounded.”
