The Rare Sudan Pair awarded to Private George Marshall, 1st Battalion The Lincolnshire Regiment with the confirmed single clasp The Atbara comprising, Queen’s Sudan Medal, 1896-97, (3301. Pte. G. Marshall. 1/Lin: R.), Khedive’s Sudan Medal 1896-1908, one clasp, The Atbara, (3301. Pte. G. Marshall. 1 Linc. Regt.), toned fine

George Marshall, a native of Norfolk, joined the Lincolnshire Regiment on the 19th of October 1892 stating that he was a 17-year-old General Labourer who was serving in the 3rd Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment. He was posted to the 1st Battalion on the 1st of January 1893 from the Depot. He served in Malta, the Sudan and South Africa before being demobilised on the 18th of October 1904. His papers state that he is entitled to the Queen’s Sudan Medal, the Khedive’s Sudan Medal with the clasp The Atbara and the Queen’s South Africa Medal. Medal Rolls Confirm the Queen’s Sudan the Khedive’s Sudan with the rarer single clasp The Atbara and the Queen’s South Africa Medal with the Clasps Transvaal and South Africa 1902.
