William I (1066-87), silver PAXS Penny (1083-86), Winchester mint, moneyer Leofwold, facing crowned bust with sceptre to right, crown type 1, legend surrounding, +PILLELM REX. Rev, cross pattee, each letter of PAXS in an annulet per angle, +LIFPOLD ON PINC, weight 1.40g (S.1257; N.848; BMC VIII; SCBI 12 [Ashmolean, Oxford II], 165).

Lightly toned on a fully rounded flan, excellent portrait with clear legends both sides, one area of softness in the southernmost tip. About extremely fine.
