William I (1066-87), Penny, Profile left type (1066-68?), Winchester mint, moneyer Leofwold, crowned bust left, sceptre before, legend surrounds +PILLEMVS REX. Rev, cross fleury extending from a central annulet within inner linear circle, reads +LEOFPOLD ON PINC, 1.29g (S.1250; N.839; BMC I).

Edge chip at 9 o’clock, darkly toned, weakly struck in places, nevertheless a handsome portrait, reverse bold. Very fine, scarce.
