Description

William III (1694-1702) Crown, 1695, Octavo edge year, first laureate and draped bust right, toothed outer borders both sides, legend surrounding, GVLIELMVS III DEI GRA. Rev, crowned cruciform shields, Lion of Nassau at centre, eight strings to Irish early harp, date flanking top crown, legend reads MAG BR FRA ET HIB REX. Edge inscription +DECVS ET TVTAMEN ANNO REGNI OCTAVO (S.3470; Bull. 991; ESC.87).

Light grey toning retaining virtually all of its original mint brilliance and lustre, light flecking. The portrait uncharacteristically well struck up, without the usual weaknesses normally encountered on these crowns. Rev, reflective fields free from pitting or surface marks with sharp details in the shields. Good extremely fine.
