A Royal Artillery World War2 North Africa and Italy Campaign Group of 5 awarded to Gunner Roy James Venes who did not live to receive his awards, comprising; 1939-45 Star; Africa Star; Italy Star; 1939-45 Defence Medal; 1939-45 War Medal; unnamed as issued contained in the original posting box addressed to Mr. B Venes, 80 Wilton Avenue, Southampton, the Bestowal/condolence slip named to Gnr. R.T. Venes and an original photograph of Gunner Venes in uniform, very fine, condolence slip shows residue of sellotape.

The Royal Artillery Attestation Books confirm that 994177 Gunner Roy James Venes (Note middle initial difference between Attestation Book and Condolence slip) died on the 22 February 1948; he had served with 3rd Medium Regiment. Gunner Venes of 80 Wilton Avenue, Southampton died at Millbrook Isolation Hospital, Southampton, on the 22nd February 1948 leaving £396 12 shilling and 3 pence to Bertha Edith Emily Venes his sister-in-law.
